A few words about
Since the work that I do is individually handcrafted I do not have
a set price list for each product or service. Each item is
unique, requiring different materials, varying amounts of labor, and
various skills and techniques - and especially in the case of a
repair, diverse conditions in the current state of the book and the
intended use, are some of the factors in establishing an estimate.
Just as no two people are the same, so it is with books.
If you would like an estimate, please contact me. I would be happy
to talk with you regarding custom work or repairs.
If you are in the area:
If you would like to visit, please call or e-mail me to set up a
time that is convenient for both of us. I enjoy meeting people and
looking at their books. Since I work out of my home, appointment
times can be arranged for evenings, weekends, or holidays.
You can contact me by phone at: (603) 239-4640

Just a note about
If you would like me to give you an estimate about custom
bookbinding or protective enclosures, I will need as much
information about the following as you can provide:
What type of materials are you thinking about for your project?
Leather, bookcloth, imitation leather, paper, fabric, or other
What is the size of your book or box? Height, Width, Depth.
For albums, journals, sketchbooks - What weight of paper would you
like? What color? Handmade or machine-made?
Would you like a recessed area for a photo or other object?
Do you need your book or album to open flat? Or is a more
traditional rounded spine the look you desire?
If you do not know the answers to these questions, I can offer
suggestions to help you in your decision making.
Estimates on repairs:
Giving an estimate on a repair is one of the most challenging
aspects of the trade. Many factors are involved in establishing a
price. The best way to estimate is to actually see the book in
person, either by meeting with me or to send the book to me. You
will know exactly how much you can expect your repair to cost.
If that is not possible, you can send me photos showing the areas
of concern, both close up and from a distance. I can estimate
giving you a price range with which you can decide how to proceed.
Estimates may be revised, either up or down, upon actually having
direct contact with the book. In the event that that should happen,
no work will be performed until you approve of the change.
Either way, estimates are free and there is no obligation. If you
send a book to me and decide not to repair it, your only expense is
the cost of shipping.
